The rural enclave of Loxahatchee Groves is cradled between Wellington to the south, Royal Palm Beach to the east and The Acreage to the north and west. A mixture of five-acre and 10-acre lots, Loxahatchee Groves is home to approximately 4,000 residents who prefer wide-open spaces. One of the oldest communities in the county, it is also the county's newest municipality. In order to protect the unique country lifestyle, residents voted in 2006 to incorporate as the Town of Loxahatchee Groves. The first five-member town council was elected in March 2007. The area is known for having predominately dirt roads. Nurseries are prevalent in Loxahatchee Groves and represent the community's top industry. Many residents keep livestock animals, including a strong equestrian community.
